As most of you know, my son Spencer has severe intellectual disabilities and I’ve questioned for some time what role chemicals in our food supply is playing in regards to these issues.
As The Safety Mom and a family safety expert, food and environmental toxins is a growing concern of mine and is something that all of us need to be considering. Robyn was named by SHAPE Magazine as one of 2009’s “Women To Shape the World”, along with Michelle Obama, and has been called “food’s Erin Brockovich” by national news organizations, including the New York Times. She has appeared on the Today Show, Good Morning America, and CNN, as well as in People magazine, Living Without and other media, and was recently named by Forbes magazine as one of “20 Inspiring Women to Follow on Twitter”. Her first book, published by Random House (May 2009) The Unhealthy Truth: How Our Food Is Making Us Sick and What We Can Do About It, exposes the role that federal policy and financial incentives play in the toxicity of the US food supply and highlights the role that chemicals in our food supply are having on our health. Her work has been recognized by Ted Turner, Dr. Oz, Erin Brockovich, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and others. Robyn was raised in Texas and now lives in Colorado with her husband and four children where she serves as the founder and director of research for the AllergyKids Foundation, an organization designed to protect the 1 in 3 American children with allergies, autism, ADHD and asthma from the chemicals in the food supply.
