I’m always curious to see what’s new in the way of safety products at the ABC Kids Expo and there’s always one that really catches my eye. This year it was a new product just launched called Baby Rescue (www.baby-rescue.com) It was invented by two firefighters from Seattle who saw too often babies perish in fires because they were trapped on upper floors of apartment buildings. So, they created a fire resistant bag that can hold up to 75 lbs. As many as two children can be placed into this mesh bag and then lowered outside the window up to 50 feet. Firefighters or emergency personnel can then rescue the babies.
It’s also great to re-connect with other companies who I’ve featured in the past. One in particular is Guardian Sleeper created by two moms. As I constantly remind parents, blankets and pillows have no place in a baby’s crib but this lightweight blanket actually fits underneath the mattress, has leg holes for the child so they can’t slip below and then wraps over the baby. Not only does this prevent the baby from rolling over onto her stomach or side but will also prevent her from moving over to the edge of the crib. And, with the recalls of cribs due to entrapment hazards, this is particularly important.
So, check out the above video to see Baby Rescue and Guardian Sleeper as well as a great new baby bath tub from Summer Infant.
