There is no doubt that moms are the hardest working people on earth. Whether you’re a stay at home mom or work outside the home, trying to juggle all of the responsibilities is pretty overwhelming.
Continuing with my musical theme, the Dolly Parton song “9 to 5” got me thinking – who actually works a 9 to 5 job anymore?!?!? I can understand 5A – 9P…maybe that’s it – maybe someone transposed the numbers!
One of the challenges I face is that my office is in my house. I purposely arranged my career and my life so that I could be home with my kids to do homework, eat dinner and be around for after school activities. The problem is that there are a few times that I need to be on the road for business trips. One recent trip took me out to Las Vegas for the ABC Show which I’ve blogged about. This was a 4-day trip in which I was working from 5A to at least 11P. But some people, even fellow moms and friends, assumed I was “goofing off.” After all, who actually works in Las Vegas??? Clearly these people had never been sent to a trade show before!
Once I’m home from a trip like this I need to really go into overdrive making up for the lost time doing chores, errands and other day-to-day activities. It’s so overwhelming I’m sure anyone would realize that “goofing off” is not an option for me or any other working mom.
So, I figured that I would show everyone a typical day in my life – which I am confident is similar to almost every other mom out there! I’ve bemoaned the never-ending laundry cycle before. This is something they never tell you in any of the “What To Expect” books when you’re pregnant! But, as I’ve said before, my new Frigidaire Washer and Dryer allows me to do about 7 loads of laundry a day thanks to the 25-minute wash Quick Cycle and the TimeWise™ Technology which ensures the washing time is the same as the drying time. And the Express Select Controls makes it easy to use – even when I’m still half asleep in the morning! I save even a little more time thanks to the Frigidaire Dryer’s DrySense™ Technology which gets the wrinkles out so I don’t have to iron my clothes, probably the most dreaded chore of all for me.
So, sit back and enjoy my rendition of “9 to 5” which absolutely should be retitled “5 to 9”! This is for every hard working mom out there!
